Remake & Remaster

Bring a classic back to the store.

We remake and remaster legacy games, from visual upgrades to full rebuilds of 20+ year-old custom engines in Unreal Engine 5. Same game your players remember, built for today’s platforms, and back to generating revenue again.

Trusted by studios and publishers

Remaster, remake or port?

Three ways to bring a game back. We help you pick the right one.

They sound alike, but they mean very different scope, risk and budget. Here is how they differ, in one look.

01

Remaster

The original game, upgraded. We keep its code, levels and design, and lift resolution, textures, lighting, frame rate and platform features to today’s standard.

02

Remake

The game rebuilt from the ground up, usually in Unreal Engine 5, with the original as the specification. New foundation, same soul.

A second life for your IP

Your old game is still an asset. Let’s make it sell again.

A shelved title already has what new games spend years building: a name, a world and players who remember it. We take it off an outdated, unsupported engine and put it back on solid technical ground, without losing what made it special.

  • Old custom engines migrated to Unreal Engine with 4K / 60 fps
  • Restored art, audio, UI and game features
  • New store listing, new platforms, new audience
  • Scoped to what your catalogue needs: no unnecessary rebuilds

What we do

Everything a classic needs to compete today.

A visual overhaul, a full engine migration, or both. Pick what your game needs; we scope the work around it.

Full QA and console certification. A failed submission is fixed and resubmitted at no cost.

Before / after

Drag to see what a remaster changes.

Same scene, same composition, same cabin in the same spot. What changes is resolution, lighting, materials and detail: the frame players remember, the way they remember it looking.

Faithful to the original

Fans will notice what changed. They must never miss what didn’t.

Before we touch a line of code we agree what is sacred and what is fair game. And when the community can’t agree, ship both: a classic mode and a remastered mode in one release.

What we keep

  • Core gameplay loop, controls feel and timing
  • Level layouts, secrets and pacing
  • Story, characters, tone and humor
  • Original art direction and soundtrack

What we modernize

  • Engine, renderer and build pipeline
  • Resolution, lighting, textures and frame rate
  • Controls, UI, accessibility and save systems
  • Achievements, cloud saves and store features

How a remaster works

From the first build we find to the day it’s back in the store.

  1. 01

    Free assessment

    3 business days

Tell us about the game and what you still have. We come back with a scoped estimate, a timeline and a recommendation: port, remaster or remake.

  2. 02

    Source & asset audit

We recover and inventory the code, assets, tools and old builds, get the original running, and map every system the remaster has to carry over.

  3. 03

    Preservation plan

Together we decide what is sacred and what gets modernized: controls feel, pacing, art direction, and whether to ship a classic mode alongside the new one.

  4. 04

    Engine migration & rebuild

Gameplay comes first. We move or rebuild the game in Unreal Engine 5, separate data from logic, and match the original until it feels right, before any new graphics.

  5. 05

    Visual & feature upgrade

New lighting, textures, resolution and frame rate, modern UI and controls, achievements and cloud saves, all built on the foundation from the step before.

  6. 06

    QA & certification

Full regression and compatibility testing against the original, then first-party certification on every console target. Failed submissions are fixed and resubmitted at no extra cost.

  7. 07

    Launch & support

    3 months included

Release on every store you target, followed by three months of patches, optimization and certification upkeep after launch.

faq

Remake & remaster
questions, answered.

What is the difference between a game remaster and a game remake?

A remaster keeps the original game, its code, levels and design, and upgrades how it looks and runs: resolution, textures, lighting, frame rate and platform features. A remake rebuilds the game from the ground up, usually in a new engine, using the original as the specification. A remaster changes the presentation; a remake changes the foundation.

Do we need the original source code to remake or remaster a game?

Source code and original assets make a remaster far easier, and a remaster is usually built on them. A remake can go further from less, because the original game itself becomes the specification. In the free assessment we review what you still have, from code and assets to old builds and design documents, and tell you which path it supports.

Can you work with an old custom engine?

Yes. We remake games from any engine, including custom engines that are more than 20 years old, and typically migrate them to Unreal Engine 5, so the game sits on a supported, modern foundation instead of a codebase nobody can build any more.

Can players switch between the original look and the remastered look?

Yes. We can ship a dual mode: the original retro feel and a modern visual mode in one release, so long-time fans and new players each get the version they want.

How long does a remake or remaster take, and what does it cost?

It depends on the scope: a visual remaster is a very different project from a full engine rebuild. Send us the details and you get a scoped estimate with a timeline within 3 business days, free and with no commitment. The work is priced as a flat fee, agreed before we start and billed per milestone.

Which platforms can a remastered game ship on?

PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PC stores such as Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store, and mobile. We handle QA and console certification for every target, and if a build fails first-party certification we fix and resubmit it at no extra cost.

What happens after the remaster launches?

Post-launch support is included for 3 months: we patch, optimize and keep the build certified through platform and OS updates.
